Privacy policy
Olai Money Tracker ("Olai") is an expense tracker made by Gravitide ("we"). This policy explains what Olai stores, where it is kept, who handles it, and how to delete it. Effective 30 September 2026.
In short
- Without signing in, your entries never leave your phone.
- If you sign in with Google, your entries are stored on our server so they are backed up and sync between your phones.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We don't sell or share your data.
- You can delete everything at any time, from the app.
What Olai stores
- Books: their names, type, currency and opening balance.
- Categories: their names, icons, colours and order.
- Entries: amount, currency, date and time, category, book, and any note you add.
Olai never asks for bank logins, card numbers or account numbers, and does not connect to your bank. It only knows what you type in.
Settings such as your theme, font and category order stay on your phone and are never sent to us.
Using Olai without signing in
Everything stays in Olai's private storage on your phone. We never receive it. Olai turns off Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so your entries are not copied to Google's backups either. They are removed when you uninstall Olai or tap Settings → Remove data from this phone.
When you sign in with Google
- Google tells us your Google account ID, email address, name and profile photo. We use them to sign you in and to show who is signed in. We don't email you unless you write to us first.
- Your books, categories and entries are copied to our database so they are backed up and sync between your phones.
- Only you can read your data: the database returns a signed-in user's own rows and no one else's. We don't look at your data, except when you ask us to help with a problem.
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
Who handles your data
If you sign in, two services process your data on our behalf:
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in, in the European Union (Ireland). Like most servers, it keeps short-lived technical logs of requests (such as IP address and time) for security and troubleshooting.
- Google handles Google sign-in, under Google's privacy policy.
Olai contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code.
What we don't do
- No ads and no advertising IDs.
- No analytics, tracking or profiling.
- We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
- We don't read your SMS, contacts, location or photos.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an Olai account. When you delete an entry, Olai marks it as deleted so your other phones remove it too; it is erased from our server when you delete your account.
When you delete your account, your account and all its data are removed from our database straight away. Our hosting provider may keep routine backups of the whole database for a limited time before they are overwritten; we don't use them to bring back deleted accounts.
Deleting your data
Delete your account and all its entries in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by email. See how to delete your account.
Your rights
You can see, change and delete your data in the app at any time. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it; we reply within 30 days. If you live in the EU or UK, we process your data to provide the service you asked for, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Olai is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has signed in, email us and we will delete the account.
This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we update this page and its effective date. If a change affects how your data is used, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
